The demise of the euro and pound has been disguising the dollar’s troubles. But now that fig leaf is falling away.
Sometimes the markets seem like a real battle between the macroeconomic and the micro-cephalic. Right now in jolly old England, Labour and its allies are positing that “too strong an effort to reduce runaway deficits will result in a savage reaction (really: that’s the phrase they used) that will destroy the British pound.”…(Read on)

Yesterday morning Vancouver awoke to an Olympic hangover, and I don’t mean the alcohol induced one. By now, the sudden realization that Vancouver’s two-week international coming-out party has come to an abrupt end is starting to set it. Next comes the withdrawal. Previous host cities have called it a “post-Olympic depression”. Over the next few days, our one million plus visitors will depart, en masse, leaving an enormous void where once stood thousands of slightly intoxicated yet utterly jubilant spectators….(Read on)

A core competency of the Skanderbeg Capital Group is identifying investment opportunities that have yet to be realized or recognized by the mainstream community. We have been heavily focused on the green economy for the past several months but have maintained the notion that there are always opportunities to be had, sometimes in markets that are not receiving huge amounts of media attention (as the ‘green’ market is today). Some investment opportunities lie in waiting, operating in markets that are seldom talked about, yet potentially profitable…..(Read on)

What a potentially amazing opportunity for Volcanic Metals Corporation, which holds a 100% interest in a 200km2 Exploration License that covers a 65 kilometre stretch of the prospective volcano-sedimentary sequence in northeastern Albania. Outside the immediate surroundings of the Gjegjan deposit, the Albanian Geological Survey (AGS) conducted no systematic or sustained exploration for additional VMS deposits over the southwestern extent of the prospective volcano-sedimentary sequence. Despite the limited amount of past work, several copper-zinc-gold bearing sulfide occurrences were discovered in the south-central portion of the Exploration License by the AGS….(Read on)

Working in the “green economy” is naturally rewarding. Providing capital and expertise to environmentally friendly businesses and retrofitting commercial properties to increase their energy efficiency, Greenscape Capital Group is fortunate to be operating in a socially responsible field.
However, every so often the opportunity arises to engage in true philanthropy, to help people in need, and to assist groups who are equipped to make a difference. In December, 2009 Greenscape acted on one such opportunity and has been able to assist The Earth Rising Foundation and The Shanti Uganda Society in their efforts to build a natural and sustainable Birth House in the rural Ugandan community of Kakira-Soweto….(Read on)

He’s been called the “King of Oil.”
He made hundreds of millions of dollars by foreseeing the surges in oil prices of the 1970s.
When the oil market was dominated by a handful of large oil companies (the Seven Sisters), he took them on…and won.
He’s an entrepreneur, a billionaire, and at one point in time was one of the most controversial fugitives of the 20th century….(Read on)

We’re all thinking about it. We’ve been thinking about it ever since Al Gore stood atop a Skyjack Hydraulic Scissor Lift and so dramatically expressed our impending doom. We’re suffocating ourselves in CO2 he says. Well Gore or no Gore, our environment is in trouble. A few savvy investors here and there, however, have come to the same realization that Bryan Slusarchuk, CEO of Greenscape Capital, has come to…(Read on)

As regular followers of the Skanderbeg Capital “stock picks” page know, we’ve been big believers in Ventana Gold for a long time.
In fact, we picked Ventana at $3.45 on June 4th, 2009 which was long before many other groups out there had it on their radar screens.
We’ve been asked multiple times about removing Ventana from our “picks” page, therefore locking in the hypothetical gains made. But we’ve remained steadfast in keeping Ventana as a top pick and are waiting for a takeover, something we think is likely in the near to mid term….(Read on)

Today, Skanderbeg Capital Group launched a type of “picks page” on this website.
Essentially, it chronicles “stock picks” that we’ve made publicly outside of the Skanderbeg Capital Group portfolio companies.
This page shouldn’t be construed as investment advice; rather it’s just a way to follow some of my thoughts on the market. Keep in mind, that we might be selling or buying or holding some or all of these companies at any given time.
The page will detail where the share price of the company was the day that we made the “pick”, where it is currently (updated on a weekly basis) and the percentage up or down since it was picked….(Read on)
