Skanderbeg Timeline
Additional to investing, Skanderbeg will also opportunistically structure, operate and raise outside capital for larger venture capital situations. A core competency of the Skanderbeg Capital Group is identifying countries and sectors that are emerging quickly but have not yet been fully recognized by the mainstream investment community. In 2008-2009, Skanderbeg has acted on opportunities in Canada, the UK and Albania.
Skanderbeg Capital Group is named after Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg (6 May 1405 – 17 January 1468), a national hero in Albania. Remembered and revered for leading decades of resistance to Ottoman rule, Skanderbeg commanded numerous military campaigns to secure his peoples’ independence. Skanderbeg’s military successes can be attributed to his uncanny ability to forge unlikely alliances in the face of Ottoman expansion. For 25 years Skanderbeg’s leadership and political and military prowess halted the aggression of the 15th century’s most powerful empire, solidified the Albanian national identity, and strengthened their solidarity. Centuries later, the legacy of Skanderbeg remains strong amongst proud Albanians.
